Here's one that's got me a little puzzled: funny-looking customer.

My first supposition is that it's an odd-looking badly worn male Pontic Blue, but those large marginal markings look very odd. Any other possibilities? I did also consider Amanda's, but I've never seen one and I'm not sure they look quite like this. Taken on Mt. Chelmos, 1686m altitude, 7th July.

I think I've answered my own question!

I'm going with my initial feeling, that it's a heavily worn Pontic Blue - those large marginal markings compare well with the less worn individual I photographed lower down the mountain on day 7 of my trip.

I think it's more likely to be a worn Amanda's. The Pontic Blue has broad dark borders to both fore- and hind-wings. Both species were common at Xerokambos in early June 1986, both utilising the same foodplant. Image of Pontic Blue attached.

I agree - your mystery blue is Amanda's, Dave. That's the first and only species that comes to mind when I look at the picture - both upperside and underside are correct.
