Hi Brian, :D

It's a type of Phlox, not sure which varitey it is though.
I have seen him on my buddleia, lavendar and sage flowers - it was also feeding on the wild flowers which grow in the playing field behind my house, it was just skimming across the ground.

It's not easy getting a photo of them, dart around very fast.

now I've got a digital slr you will see a lot more of my photos, I've already got some of my pictures on the uk buitterflies web site, I recall a photo of a large copper , a favourite picture of mine. in the original picture ther was a thislte petal spoiling the photo, a bit of touching up in a dtp programme and it's gone
no sign of the humming bird hawk returning, after two days of rain nothing is flying
