On Friday afternoon in appalling weather while out looking for a couple of Wrynecks on the golf course at Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland, I flushed a Painted Lady from the short rough. I think that it had arrived with the weather as there is very little to keep any butterfly engaged at this site (a coastal headland). The birds that were dumped by the conditions are of Scandinavian origin, did the Painted Lady come from there? If it did where did this Swallowtail in Aberdeen come from?
