Found this little Pug having a ten minute drink from a drop of water on the side of the hand basin in my bathroom :~

Looking closely, you can see the moth's proboscis in the drop of water. The superb continuous clear blue skies has left my part of Gloucestershire very parched. No doubt this insect made good use of its drink as it flew off strongly when finished and I opened the window to allow it to escape.

The very dry summer of 1976 when we had nearly three months of comtinuous sunshine saw both Silver Washed and Dark Green Fritillaries in my garden. Both are present in the woods and grasslands of the nearby Cottswold Hills three miles away and I've not seen one of these in my garden before or since that ultra dry and hot summer or 1976.
