Oaken Wood

I visited there yesterday to view the results of our winter work, under the leadership of Malcolm Bridge. To me,it is most impressive. Two years ago,it seemed to be neglected. Now,the meadow is much larger, the paths have been opened up and trimmed, and Berkeley Square is attracting nightingales, butterflies and moths.I was struck by the number of Wood Whites now in this reserve. Also a new sign has appeared, thanks to the Forestry Commision, indicating that this area is cared for.I am aware that this reserve is home to a very rare moth-the Betony case-bearer-and am pleased to report that its host plant is doing well.I am submitting three photo's from this visit, the Wood Whites can be taken for granted. The two moths were both tiny and flew like moths. Can someone help with the identification, please.

Hi PJ,

Are these the photos you meant to upload? Looks like a Speckled Wood, Speckled Yellow and Grizzled Skipper to me!

Cheers,

Thanks,it was the last one I was worried about. It seemed too small and moth like compared with other grizzleds I have seen,so I took a chance!
