Not butterfly related, but saw this video earlier on and thought I'd flag it up for others who have not seen it - Wow, both of the participants in the clip were extremely fortunate to get out of this relatively unscathed ...

Gripping footage.
I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. Lammergeiers have been seen perilously close to paragliders in the Alps (by a friend of mine) and they're a rare bird.
I teach a lot of Russians and I recognised a fair few swear words they didn't bleep out!!

That really is a pretty (unintendedly) impressive piece of footage. Pity the guy doesn't know his Himalayan Griffon Vultures from his "eagles" lol. Damn good to see the bird get away clean too.
