birds noted at Tenerife

Post by Philzoid »

Seems a bit pointless now but here are some low res pictures I took of birds whilst on Tenerife. Intially I was going to ask for the I.D of a couple, but since then I've managed to work out what they are (I think).
Collared Dove or Common Dove

The pigeon was seen in Vilaflor (high up conifer woodland) and looked different, particularly with the extensive green on the neck and unicolorous body.

Other species seen
Parakeets not sure of the species. Were heard rather than seen
Kestrels which all appeared to be males with noticeable Chestnut backs and black edged grey tails. It was suggested that they might be Lesser Kestrels but this species is rare I think, in Tenerife.
Swifts. I've been told that there is a Plain Swift species out there.
Hoopoe, mentioned in the report
Blue Chaffinch, also mentioned in the report
Spanish Sparrow at Aqualand
Chiffchaffs
Wrens
Canaries on La Gomera.

Birds are harder to photo than butterflies it seems
