Can any one tell me if this Painted Lady I saw in June this year has it's normal colour or has it more of a White body than usual. I saw this one at Sea Salter and the others at Dover :? Goldie M

The one in the bottom image looks normal, but is the top one over-exposed lighting-wise?

The hindwings appear to be dazzling white rather than natural.

Hi David

The Painted Lady in the top picture looks over exposed to me. It looks like the colouration is due to the sun hitting the wings.

The other pictures I took were very similar, the butterfly was so quick ,it made the photo's blurred abit, I'll put them up so you can see what I mean. It really had this white body. Last year I reared some Painted Ladies and one looked like this until it's wings dried out. I can't believe one actually over wintered here with the weather we've had. Goldie :?
