As most of you will know the Government planned last year to sell off woods and forests to raise revenue. The plans have been shelved fo the moment due to a public outcry.
On the Isle of Wight Woodhouse Copse used to be owned by the Forestry Commission but has recently been sold.It was the site of several recent sightings of large tortoiseshells in the past few years.
The new owner according to the local press has been charged with holding an unlicensed rave on the land in August and any vistor to the site will be appalled at the state of the land.
What better argument against the Forestry Commission selling off our woodland heritage. :(
