A visit to Aston Rowant in dull conditions produced a few SS Skippers as well as a few Blues.

I am stuggling to decide exactly which this is
and any help would be greatly recieved
Thank you.

Lack of any blue dusting suggests Brown Argus.

Yes it's a Brown Argus.

A surefire way to tell Brown Argus from the other blues is to check the underside of the hindwing - which is very nicely portrayed in your picture. Starting at the body and working towards the rear of the wing, the top edge has a single isolated black spot followed by a pair of black spots. This pair of spots are positioned so that one is above the other, which is unique in British blues. The others have these spots positioned sideways to each other.

Hope that makes it easier? :)

Cheers,

Gibster.
