Uninvited guest in supermarket salad

Hi everyone - could you please help me to identify what I found in a bag of pre washed supermarket salad - see attached photo. It is very gold & shiny. Thanks for your help

mmm...a crunchy and tasty addition. Don't let the celebrity chefs into the secret :shock:

It has to be from the Nymphalid family - I would guess it could be a Red Admiral, but it could be a Peacock?

Perhaps a small tortoiseshell. Poor thing.

Although it's sad for that individual, it's a good sign, I would say, when insects turn up in salads. In this case, it means that right next to the field where the salad crops were growing there were relatively pesticide-free nettles.

Either that or they are part of the salad.
