Silver Spotted...err Chalkhill!!??

Post by Pauline »

Just a quick question if I may. Has anyone ever seen a Chalkhill Blue with Blue spots like a Silver Studded Blue? I am sure you are going to tell me it is just a normal variation but can't ever recall seeing one like this so I would be interested in any opinions.

Goodness! That's amazing. Back to all those past photos to see if one is lurking in there...

Where was this one (a female by the look of it)?

Could this be an example of atavism - like Whales growing hind legs or humans with tails?

Whatever it makes other aberrants look positively passe, it is a corker!

Have a goodun

Gibster, did you know that's a line from a Lady gaga track???!!!! (Don't ask!).

Dave, she was quite active in the drizzle and wind at Oxenbourne. She is quite stunning and very noticeable but I am struggling with a new camera so didn't do her justice.

I would be interested to know if it is a recognised form (Piers???).

I saw a Provence Chalk-hill Blue (Lysandra hispana), link below, three years ago in Var, southern France. I have never seen another, nor anything like this in a Chalk-hill Blue (Lysandra coridon).

The lady was still there this morning not far from where I left her. Thank you all for your interest - and if she has any particular title I would love to know.
