A problem plant

On a visit to the coastal path at Brightlingsea,Essex,with my Danish butterfly friend,we came across this plant.It has puzzled us,so can anyone help.Is it tall fleabane?

Could it be Salsify?
PS: I love the Brightlingsea area - My Dad grew up there and was actually born in the "Yachtsman's Arms" on Waterside, when his parents ran the pub :)

I saw a very similar plant at Wrecclesham in May:

This turned out to be Salsify.

Thanks to both of you.I think that confirms it as Tragopogon porrifolius-purple salsify.
