SW Ireland Sites Info Wanted

Post by markhows »

Does anyone have any good general sites in Co Kerry / Co Cork. We are going early September so understand only a few species will be about but they will brighten up the trip.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

I've never been to Ireland and Adrian Riley's book mentions quite a few sites but they are scattered throughout the various species' texts. He doesn't seem to recommend any particular sites.

Have a look at Butterfly Ireland at http://www.butterflyireland.com and Irish Butterflies at http://www.irishbutterflies.com/index.html Both sites enable you to contact individuals who may be able to recommend specific sites/target species.

If nothing else you should be in the zone for American waders! Time to familiarise yourself with Buff-breasted, Semipalmated and Pectoral Sandpipers - and that's just for starters if you're really lucky! Hope you have a great time.
