Looking for a good book

Hi,

Can anyone recommend any good books for butterflies in Greece? The area I am most interested in are the Dodecanese Islands.

Something not too heavy for travel use, but I'd also be interested in anything really for use at home too.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Matt

I would go for the Butterflies of Europe by Tristan Lafranchis. It has an excellent key and photos with pointers to the key identifying features.

Softback at about £30

Tim

Thanks

Thanks for the tip Tim, just checked it out on Amazon and might get a copy. I'm not planning a trip until about May so I have time, Amazon are charging a sourcing fee so it might take them a while to get hold of a copy.

Once again thanks for your help.

Regards
Matt

I managed to get a copy directly from Tristan. Although I've lost his email address, looking at the web came up with

lafranch@otenet.gr

I'd suggest sending an email, and Tristan may be able to either send you a copy, or point you to a UK outlet that has his title in stock.

Cheers,

- Pete

Thanks Pete, I'll try to email him about the book and get a copy before my next trip out there.

Nice avatar (image!) of a Brown Hairstreak. If this is your photo, have you ever considered contributing to the UK Butterflies website?

A bit off-topic, but there ya go!

yep its my photo and I planned to send you some more shots soon anyway, just haven't got around to it and my internet connection has been awful of late too. I'll include a Brown Hairstreak or two when I send you a batch ok?

Will update my avatar too and maybe be a bit more creative than using a straight photo :)
