Does anybody know Buckland Wood, Somerset? What the terrain is like? (Can't do too hilly). Also where are the DOB hotspots at the site? Grateful for a bit of info. :D

Buckland Wood is one of my very favourite sites.
Park at the map reference given (very limited space) and through the gate into a recently felled area. The track leads straight down the hill. It is not too steep, and levels out after a hundred metres or so.
When you get to the next (new) gate, there is a fenced area in front of you. The lower section of this is the best area. On your right is a deep ditch. Crossing this adjacent to the bottom of the fenced area is a bit arduous, but well worth it as there is another fenced area with dukes. Again in the lower sections, but also possible Marsh frits too!
After this area, follow the track (muddy) through to woods/felled are to an area under an old tower. Another excellent Duke spot.
This area, and the area to the left of the first fenced area are excellent for Grizzlies, Dingies, and Green Streaks. I hope you are lucky with Wood White there, but I haven't seen them for about 6 years.
The pub at the top of the hill is excellent.
Good luck.

Wood White was lost from Buckland Wood just as the habitat restoration programme on the Blackdowns was getting started. Now that its habitat elsewhere on the Blackdowns is being restored, hopefully natural recolonisation will be possible in the near future.
