Been browsing... labelled this as euphrosyne but the usual ID thing about the upf spot distribution doesn't seem to hold.. unfortunately the uns. shot is poor!... from French/ Swiss border at altitude in June 09.. any comments??

I would have no doubt in calling that a typical male euphrosyne.

I know you're right Guy, I am therefore confused about the postdiscal s2 spot which does seem to be placed asymmetrically between it's neighbours... I can never remember the selene / euphrosyne differentiators.. :(

You're right too, Paul - that method, which I've advertised in the past, doesn't really work. But it does reflect something about the shape and position of those spots, even if it fails mathematically, when you consider the ratio.

Male euphrosyne is never difficult anyway - the floaty triangles and the generally rounded, spotty, bright feel about the whole thing are quite distinctive even when the underside (which is annoyingly variable anyway) is not visible.
