Felix, Paul Whetton and I have both taken photographs of a Common Blue Female abberation. We took them at different sites and a year or so apart, mine at Upton Fen Norfolk, and Paul's at Aston Rowant.

Could you help with putting a name to the abberation if it has one please?

many thanks on behalf of

Hi Paul and Dave,

For the Aston Rowant specimen I would offer ab. fusca-supracaeruleolunulata, on account of the wings being blue to the costa margin but without the orange lunules; although the area is ringed with blue scaling as if the lunules were present.

The Norfolk specimen looks like ab. fusca-caeruleolunulata; as above but predominantly brown in colour rather than blue.

Hope this helps, and sincere apologies for the delay in responding to you.

Felix.
