Radio 2 this evening

You could have knocked me down with a feather when Simon Mayo devoted 10 minutes of his Radio 2 Drivetime show tonight to butterflies.

Yes, Matthew Oates from the National Trust was the guest and he was allowed to describe in detail why butterflies are so fascinating as well as do the 'conservation' bit too.

Mr Oates told how the Purple Emperor was his favourite species and gave listeners reasons why (rare, elusive, quixotic behaviour, etc). He also waxed lyrical about butterflies representing freedom, health, etc. It was quite uplifting.

Did anyone else catch it?

I didn't catch it but it seems you can listen to the previous week's shows on his Radio 2 page:

Today's show isn't up yet but it may well be tomorrow, with 7 days to listen.

Do you know roughly how far into the show the feature was David?

Cheers

The programme starts at 5pm and I reckon it was towards the end of the first hour.

I'd go for approx 5.45pm. He got a good 10 minutes though so feel free to search.

Well done to Simon Mayo then for getting the spot on there.

I will see if it's on tomorrow's listen again options.

Thanks David! :)

Absolutely...he wasn't a bit sarcastic like he's often prone to be. The guest got well treated and the subject matter was given respect.

That's good to hear.

I'm looking forward to listening to it tomorrow, hopefully. Thanks David.
