Caterpillar ID

Post by Michael L »

Hello,
I came across an unusual caterpillar in my garden today and was wondering if any of the experts (for I am definately not one!) on the forums may be able to identify it.

Forgive the photography as my skills are rather lacking.

The caterpillar was approximately 2.5" long with a type of 'horn' either end. It's colours were black with lime-ish green stripes running from end to end, small orangey red stripes (or spots) in pairs between the green stripes and fine white hairs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Hi Michael,

Looks like a Grey Dagger moth larva. A spectacular beast!
