Do these wierdos really think yhey are get anything out of posting thier trash on a butterfly site? I'm fed up with it, and disgusted that they would post thier filth on a site that can be visited by children.

Most of it is probably posted by bots.
What is needed is twofild...
1. Disable guest posting
2. Put new accounts in moderation mode so that they can be checked before posting.
This has solved the problem on several forums that I host.

That was easier than I thought. Both suggestions now implemented. Let's hope that's it for the spam from now on!
