Me in my ignorance thought this was a Lulworth skipper (fem). I may be right,,, i may be wrong. The field guides get fuzzy here. Gosh! i thought this would be easier than fungi, but it's not.

Oh yes - definitely a female Lulworth! The crescent-shaped markings are classic :)

Definately a lovely Female Lulworth Skipper named after it's discovery at Lulworth Cove in Dorset by Mr J.C.Dale on 15th August 1832. J C Dale was an entomologist of high repute and lived at Glanvilles Wootton in North Dorset. The spot where the first specimen was captured on that date was at Durdle Door, just west of Lulworth Cove. I suppose it could have actually been named 'The Durdle Door Skipper' if the naming was to have been undertaken precisely!
Cheers,
Lee (Cornwall).

Hmmm!! Interesting stuff Lee. Tho, they might have called it Dales Skipper to give him a bit of credit. :D
