Purple Emperors on the A303?

Post by Andrew Cunningham »

Evening all,

In a couple of weeks I shall be on the A303 to Basingstoke so I wanted to ask if there is still a chance of seeing any Purple Emperors and if so then could I please have some more information on where and how to see them?

Same for Silver-spotted Skippers.

Many thanks,
Andrew.

I think you'll be too late for Purple Emperor and the most reliable site would have been Bentley Wood.

For SSS I'd suggest Stockbridge Down - they're in the scrub next to the road that runs along the side of the down (at the western end).

Cheers,

- Pete
