I took this photo late June on holiday in the Outer Hebrides, the caterpillar was on clover in the machair.
I have tried to identify it, but I can't find it. I was hoping someone wiser might be able to help me.

i think it might be a belted beauty moth caterpillar, from a picture in MOths of Great Britain, but i am no expert,
