A trip to bentley wood yesterday produced a good number of valezina silver washed frtillaries and a long last I managed to get some pictures. There were quite a few white admirals but only one purple emperor was seen.I then went to broughton down and found dark green fritillary there but it was just too hot to go chasing them

Lovely photo, Mark. I envy you people who live within easy travelling distance of Bentley Wood. I'm going to have to arrange a couple of nights' B&B down there next summer, but knowing my luck it will rain for the duration!

I saw three valesinas at Clanger Wood yesterday but neither those, nor the regular SWFs nor the three white admirals that I saw would settle for long enough to photograph anything decent. There were several brown hawker dragonflies hunting up and down the rides.
