Kentish Glory

Post by Pete Eeles »

Hi all,

What's wrong with these photos that I've been sent? Take a close look before scrolling down :)

For the observant among you, this is a pair of Kentish Glory moths (bred in captivity) with a difference - both are male! Any ideas on why this "pairing" might happen? One theory is an overwhelming female pheremone at play, since virgin females were "calling" in the vicinity.
Cheers,

- Pete

They don't have to be gay, just a bit bored.

I've seen it before too, although never as full on as Pete's excellent pics.

There are some photos of one chap trying his luck on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2870

Haha, I wonder how they feel. Perhaps like a trucker whose found that he's got a handful of something he didn't expect to find?

The one on the left is Endromis versicolora priestus, the one on the right is Endromis versicolora altarpueris. (Irish subspecies)
