Not a butterfly but eggs, brown hairstreak eggs here in Broadbridge Heath.

Thanks to Kipper's work last winter the highways authority only cut two thirds of the blackthorn edge running adjacent to where I live last week so next year the numbers of brown hairstreaks should bump right up again. I was sorry to read what has happened at Steyning Rifle Range but hopefully this will bounce back in due course too.

Found this in my summer photos. Fermyn 30th June. Don't what aberration is called and Cockayne can't help. Annoyingly, at the time
I took the photos I didn't notice anything odd so didn't "chase" it.

It's form hutchinsoni, and from what I can see judging from the pale ground colour (even by hutchinsoni standards) and the reduced spotting it is ab. intermedia.

Could you put it in the Species Specific Album Jack?

Felix.

Embarrassed to say that I don't know how to do that!

My wife saw a Small Tortoiseshell last Sunday, which was basking in the sun and then flew off strongly.

I saw a Red Admiral today early afternoon, around the same time that my missus saw a Painted Lady a few miles away!
