As it states on the home page: In order to improve the service this website provides, it has been necessary to host UK Butterflies with another service provider. During the transfer, the forums will be offline. The transfer will be initiated this evening (02-Dec-09). Please monitor this home page for announcements, and apologies for the inconvenience.

The website is already up and running in the new location, but the transfer can take up to 48 hours.

Cheers,

- Pete

Well - it looks like the changeover took a little less than 2 days. Around 30 minutes in fact :)

If anyone could please let me know of any issues in this thread I'd appreciate it!

Cheers,

- Pete

hi pete,

it would appear that i at least now have alot of the images on all the sightings threads no longer attached as there is now just a small window with a box and a red cross within, when you click on the box that used to be the image, it opens a window that presents the message "the the image is no longer attached"
i haven't checked any of the other threads yet to see if they are the same.

gary.

Thanks - on the case now! NO images have been "lost" so there's no need to re-upload!

OK - found the problem. There are around 10,000 images I've failed to copy - so this will take a while to rectify - but I'm working on it now.

Thx,

- Pete

All done except for around 1000 thumbnails - will get around to this tomorrow since I need to sort out a permissions problem first.

But most images should now be back!

- Pete

The remaining thumbnails need to have their permissions reset by the Internet provider and will be copied to the new host once this has been done.

The thumbnails are still linked - and will open the full image if clicked!

Cheers,

- Pete

All thumbnails should now be back. Please let me know of any other "migration" problems you come across.

Hi Pete,

Just a minor point. The timings given for forum postings seems to differ. It looks like there is a 7 hour difference between the timing of a post which appears on a forum and the time that is stated on Recent Forum Topics. The website clock is 1 hour ahead, so somewhere another 6 hours are being lost.

As a reference point, this posting was made at 1.28am on Friday 4th December. It is timed as 2.28am on the forum and 7.28pm on 3rd December on Recent Forum Topics.

Must now go to bed.

Cheers,

Vince

It shows a 1:58 everywhere for me.
Perhaps your setings are off?

Hi Vince - I can't reproduce this - if you could be a little more specific I'll look into it (i.e. not sure where the "Recent Forum Topics" link is!).

One thing that is currently a manual task is to change Daylight Savings Time (DST) on and off. To do this - go to the User Control Panel -> Board Preferences.

Cheers,

- Pete

FYI it shows as 2.58 here in CH.

Hi Pete,

The Recent Forum Topics list is on the homepage, underneath the species list. I have changed DST to off on the user control panel and this has now syncronised the post timing with the time given on the forum page (now both showing as 1.28am). I have changed the board style from prosilver to subsilver2 and back again, but the timings on the Recent Forum Topics list remain unchanged (i.e. 6 hours adrift).

This is not a big issue for me, but I only mentioned it in case it was a symptom of a larger problem.

Cheers,

Vince

Ah! Thanks Vince. That's called a "bug". Onto it now.

Should now be fixed. I've had to "fix" the time to GMT on the dates shown on the home page since I can't assume that the visitor is logged into the forums (which is where the user timezone information is stored). I've not explicitly added that "all times are GMT" since most visitors will be from this timezone!

Cheers,

- Pete

Hi Pete,

That's now fixed, but it seems to have sparked another problem. Now every time I try to access the forums via the Recent Forums Topics list on the homepage, I get an error message and the link fails. I can still get into the forums by other routes. Is this another bug and am I the only person who uses the recent Forums Topics List to access the forums?

I have also just noticed that two of the smilies (confused and cool) occasionally fail to appear on the options list when I am making a post. Again not a big issue for me, but an indication of some bugs still to be ironed out.

Cheers,

Vince

Vince, was it this error that I am getting when I do the same as you did? When you go down, did it say something about link to Grayling page?

I can't seem to reproduce the smilies problem :(

I kept getting the listings, and found that i had to re-bookmark the url. That cured it. :D
