Congratulations to the winners and all those that must have come close. As always there were some real beauties in there. I just love Vince's 'Spot the Comma' shot!

Congratulations to the winners, I particularly loved the 2nd overall image, Pearl-bordered Fritillary by Rosalyn Payne. I'm glad it done well, especially as I had already asked to use it on the cover of the 2011 calendar. :D Well done to all that entered.

Regards Gruditch

Oh yes,,Rosalyn Payne's pic of the Pearl-bordered Fritillary is exceptional. All photographers aspire to shots like this. Had a good mind to order early. :D

Well done to all the winners. There are some stunning photographs including those that did not win. The bar is constantly being raised. Can't wait for next year. :D

I completely agree, Ian. And good to see you at the national AGM!

When a 13 year old (Eleanor Bennett) can take a photo like this:

... I get a good feeling that the next generation of conservation-aware adults is coming along nicely :)

This year's entry was another great tribute to all who participate and to UKB for running and attracting such a high standard in the competition. There is nothing "amateur" about the winning images, that is for sure!

The one image that really grabbed me this year was the PBF of Rosalyn Payne, so pleased to see it placed.
(Soon have Christmas over and, well, a few weeks only to the start of the season then... )

Well done everybody and thanks to all that voted two of my photos into the placings. I am so pleased to be in amongst such respected names. Thanks also to Neil for your kind comments. I would have loved to have seen your photo of the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries entered in the "Behaviour" category. It would have given us all a run for our money and I would definately have voted for it. You used it to such good effect on the Sussex page to announce the Rowland Wood appeal. I suppose there is nothing stopping you from entering it next year! In fact there are loads of fantastic photos which appear in the monthly competitions which are then, seemingly, never seen again. How about putting them in the Species Gallery at the end of each competition?

Cheers,

Vince
