silver washed fritillary

hello all
I went back to clanger wood yesterday to photograph silver washed and white admiral.there were plenty of silver washed on the brambles but we only saw 6 white admirals.the highlight of the day was a single valesina just waiting to be photographed (until i fell into a hole and off it went).

Sod's law strikes again, Mark.
Silver washed fritillaries also seen today in the woods around Walton Common (ST428738). Far too lively to get any decent shots though. There are supposed to be dark green fritillaries on the common itself but I didn't see a single one. However, it's a nice common to visit with lots of wildflowers so not a total waste of time.
