I find swallowtails fairly easy to find and photograph, for example when nectaring on lavender or buddhleia , but the usual problem is that they are a bit tatty. Finding them fresh and intact is usually a bit more difficult......

This is an attempt at a slightly "arty" image, rather than a record shot.

I have an admission to make...I made a fopar on the ID when I said #2 was a Scarce Swallowtail. It is, in fact, a Spanish Swallowtail, Iphiclides feamelii.
