I was looking and reading about time lapse photography and wondered if there was anything I could get form my Canon 400D or 500D that could be used for taking time lapse photos without me actually having to be there and pressing the button? Like taking one photo every 30mins or 1 hour or whatever etc...?

I know that some camera models come with software that allow connection to a PC from which you could run such a schedule. If you're thinking of maybe recording a butterfly emergence from a pupa in a controlled environment, that would suffice I expect, but out in the middle of a hillside it might be a bit more difficult, not to say risky that someone might make off with your kit. Check out your CD that came with the camera; you might be lucky and have the tools already. :)

Dave,

Take a look at ebay & do a search on canon remote timer
Looks like there are a ton of gizmos there that might do what your looking for. Cheapish to if you don't mind ordering from foreign parts.

Thanks, it was mainly for inside my house or in garden, so no ones going to be stealing my camera. I'll look on e-bay and see whay they have.
