Please could anyone help me identify this butterfly/moth. Seen in my garden today. The nearest i can find on the internet is the Garden Tiger Moth. But the one seen has striped outer wings and with orange tips. Also the head looks alot different. Many thanks. pic too big to upload, but butterfly has v symetrical lines on outer wings, not patches.

Was it anything like this?

Are you certain because if so, you're very fortunate to have the very local species, the Jersey Tiger in your garden. It flies frequently during the day and to my eyes, resembles a Painted Lady in flight. The real Garden Tiger is a more substantial and even more colourful moth. It too can fly during the day but, less so than the Jersey or Scarlet Tigers, the latter species being common day flyer in my area and again to my eyes, resembles a Red Admiral on the wing at first sight.
