orange and Yellow. South West Ireland

Post by Ad »

We were in South West Ireland at the start of June and were unable to identify a sighting on a rocky hillside.

We have no picture but the upperwings were vivid orange with no other markings and the underside of the wings pale yellow and veined. Any ideas?

... and I still don't know what it might have been. Clouded yellow is an interesting guess, but the veins don't really fit.

No, I must have been half asleep when I wrote that. What's the underside of an Orange Moth like, does anyone know?
If all else fails we can say it was Green-veined White that got caught in a paintball fight between Prince Harry and the County Kerry Pantymime Horse.
