Skippers

Is anyone able to tell me how to identify which sex a certain skipper is, especially the orange types (e.g. small, essex, large).

Hi Nick,

In all these cases, the male has a sex brand on the forewing (a dark line). You can just about make them out on the following page:

Yep - that's a male Small Skipper you have there.
