Sure was. Those brimstones in flight came out far better than the low res version we see for the comp let on. A real stunner!

Thanks all - I'd forgotten all about the article since I wrote it ages ago! I've yet to see it myself (flying back from the US today) but it sounds like it's come out OK. I really struggled to a) find a balance that would apply to the majority of readers and b) not "overdo" the references to UK Butterflies in case BC were put in the awkward position of being seen to endorse one website over another - it would have been nice to have made more of the superb photographers we have on this site. Based on feedback from BC, they may ask for another article at some point, in which case it would be good to highlight others' work.

The car park location isn't as ridiculous as may seem for PEs - I recall seeing one in a motorway lorry park in central France where it was enjoying the delight of diesel on the tarmac. I have a photo on my website PE page. It's not a great photo because I wasn't prepared to get flat out on the ground - anyone with any experience of French lorry drivers will tell you why!

Ah yes I should have mentioned that also!

Oh yes, I should have said because I found that one very interesting too.

He is slightly erroneous when he says the butterfly is only found on the south of the Isle of Wight. It is found in a few mainland locations nearby, and last year the (presumably) introduced colony on Sand Point in Somerset was doing well. But the pictures were very good.
