Pararge aegeria aegeria

Just found a chap on Flickr who thinks he may have seen this subspecies in mid Wales yesterday. I've suggested third brood Wall Brown as they live in the locality. Has this subspecies been seen in mainland Britian before?

That one speckled wood is the subspecies I am breeding, it does look very like a wall though see, but you can se differences slightly:

but what was seen was probably the wall, either that or someone bred the speckled wood supsbecies and released them there, but I'd go for wall if its seen in the area anyway.

P. a. aegeria is most improbable as a natural occurence. The observer states he is absolutely sure about the ID and I feel we should pay him the respect of not simply dismissing it; HOWEVER, if it really was a speckled wood I would consider some independently orange aberration more likely than a true aegeria.

The various intermediate forms are quite distinctive, so I don't think it could have been one of these, given the observer's insistence on aegeria:
