Do Butterflies like Lavender?
The bumble bees love it? But I have never noticed any butterflies on it in the garden.

I often have large and small whites on mine -mainly bees though as you say.

I think they tend to prefer the English lavender to the French, what type do you have, mouse?

Skippers and Common blues used to visit too. Night time and dusk can be very productive too for moths. Mother of pearl and Silver-y's used to be numerous and regular feeders amoungst others.

And Rosy, I have no idea what sort, I think it is a mixture!! We have the path way to the front door lined with them, because they give off a lovely strong smell. That not only smells nice to guests, its so I can easily find my house by my sense of smell. I use a map in my mind to walk to and from school, after a long day a school, I can be a little bit off. But the smell corrects my path and I arrive safely at my house and not my neighbours!!

I have had small/large whites on our lavander and mostly bees and the occational Silver Y moths and large yellow underwings before.

Amazing Guy!

I dont think my Lavender gets that much attention from butterflies because my cats wait by them for me to come home from school, and I normally run my hand over them to find my way to the front door, and because I love the smell. Maybe they are disturbed too much. Or maybe the bees make too much noise!

In late July it is very popular with the newly emerged nymphalids and all the common species can be seen there, sometimes all in the same field of view. The common whites and browns will also make use of the lavender. Less regular visitors include Clouded Yellow and Hummingbird Hawk-moth, and potentially Silver-washed Fritillary which occurs in nearby woods.

That place sounds really beautiful, one day I will make a day trip there myself, unless anyone else wants to come?!

There is a lavender farm over my way too that I earmarked to visit this year. I didn't manage to make it but I still plan to go next year.
