How about this

Thought I'd show this specimen which seems to be a bright eyed ringlet, with rather more emphasis on the "eyed" than usual!!
Same individual.. I've never seen one like this, are they common??

I've seen them in the Pyrenees where they seem to be the predominant form, if not the only form. I think they are the subspecies spodia form pacula.

Ah.. thanks.. there were many, many more routine ones than this, which really stood out at the time

In the Val the you see every gradation from really very dark with just two obscured spots in the apex of the forewing, to your seriously 'bright-eyed' form.
This picture is a video frame (I didn't get a real digital camera until 2005). I remember at the time being quite bowled over by this specimen!
