July and August are good months for seeing a lot of species at Magdalen Hill Down, Winchester, in particular Chalkhill Blue butterflies. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Branch of Butterfly Conservation have arranged a series of special walks on the Down during July and August starting on Sunday 27th July. Visitors are invited to join a walk led by a butterfly enthusiast. As well as being able to enjoy superb views, lots of wild flowers and butterflies, an added feature of these walks will be that hints and tips will be given on taking photographs of butterflies and moths.

The walks are free and there is no need to book. Each walk will start at 10.30am from the gravel car park opposite Magdalen Hill cemetery on the B3404 Alresford Road at SU 512 295 on the eastern side of Winchester. The walks will last about two hours.
