Purple Emperor spotting in Sussex

I went on Saturday (to Southwater) armed with Shrimp Paste (yes it does pong a bit - like a sort of cross between poo and death). Did the walk - retraced the steps of the walk the previous sunday. Possible sighting of one PE at Dogbarking Trees - it couldn't have been anything else actually. Plenty of WAs and SWFrits about. I smeared some of the shrimp paste on a sign near the car park that said "No dumping" seems kind of ironic in a funny sort of a way. I didn't go back on the Sunday as my daughter Jasmine insisted that Peacehaven Donkey Derby was in fact much more important than butterflying. What can you do? We rode the big wheel, she held a little owl and rode the donkey. It was a bit overcast anyway, so maybe we didn't miss anything......then again maybe we did....
The shrimp past was a pound in Horsham. I imagine putting on the ground would mean dogs/foxes would eat it so I smeared it on something above ground...not that it did any good!
