Perhaps as clearly we are not a terribly serious lot (unlike some birders I have known), cartoon portraits might be very appropriate. Now in such a talented group as ukbutterflies, there must be some cartoonists out there. I have a nephew who does that sort of thing for a living, but he would need payment.

So is anyone - after submission of REAL photos - able to turn photos into cartoon characters for the rogues gallery?

Jack
Thought it might be good to start a thread about this?

On another internet forum I'm a member of we have a Photobucket account with our pictures on - it aids identification in the pub/gig no end (it's a forum that see quite a lot of public house/gig-type action). We also use it for our monthly photo competition - it keeps the entries anonymous and stops the forum threads being tied up with images. About two hundred of us met up before a gig last year and it certainly helped those who aren't so much "in-the-loop" to go up and say hello to other members (or avoid them at all costs!). We all know the password for the account so we can add pictures in the different categories as and when we like.

Hi Annie,
I believe Pete is away on hols at the moment, but I think he should look into all this on his return. A 'rogues gallery', perhaps with a bit of blurb about oneself (like a scaled down version of the site's 'Contact' section, with mugshots of Pete, Adrian, Guy and Mike), the use of which is entirely optional, might be the easiest option. Jack's already been brave enough to appear in all his glory - but no 'undraped' shots please! It would certainly help with recognising and meeting people in the field.

Hi Bryan,
Just got back from the pub. All the girls were asking "where's Old Winchester Hill?" Can you provide a Grid Ref?

Hi Annie,
Look at his hands! Moisturiser and manicure I reckon. Don't imagine he put up much of a fight. Bet the real Bryan doesn't have a rainbow either!

Hello... theres not much chance of you bumping into me here in the wilds of North Yorkshire but I attach a picture nevertheless... I've entitled it "North Yorkshire in July"! Actually, it took me ages to select a suitable picture, I hadn't realised until I rooted through a load of holiday pics just how much I pose/pull faces/look half-cut/am asleep and how rediculous my hair is.

Funny how many of us 'Butterfliers' seem to be into angling too (especially the ugly ones  )
I suppose it is the same mentality... trying to creep up and get a good photo of a wild creature without spooking it.
Years ago, it would have involved killing what we caught and either pinning them out in a display case, or stuffing them in a glass case. Thankfully nowadays, in the age of digital cameras, we just take photos and let them go free again.

Ah yes - the perils of being blonde and having an outdoor interest!
Just imagine how I would look if I didn't spend 8.25 hours a day in a windowless office, pining for the great outdoors..............................
Anyway - I am leaving the computer now for the great outdoors.
Back Sunday night.
Probably not too much sunburn this weekend tough!

Roger

p.s. You can talk, with that lovely Yorkshire tan of yours!!
