Hi all,
I havn't posted for a long time so first of all hello again!I took this shot today, I think its a small pearl bordered fritillary but I am sure someone will put me right if I'm wrong.

Hi Daveyboy, I think your right with your ID, but I fully expect Guy to come in and correct me.
As for your images, their great, but what could you expect with such a fantastic camera and lens.

They're absolutely cracking pictures AND I agree with the ID!
Did you take any shots without flash at the same time? I'd be interested to compare them.

Thanks for your comments and confirmation of ID guys.I did try some natural light shots but I did not have my tripod with me and the result was motion blur.I would have been interested to compare myself....lesson learned there I think....dont forget your tripod!

I dunno... The background is relatively light in your flash shots and it looks as if it is pretty far away. Something like ISO 800 1/320 & f/8.0 might have worked and given reasonable sharpness. Not like this, but good enough for many uses. With 40D ISO 800 is quite usable.

It's a nice shot but composition could be a little better as the butterfly is looking out of the picture. If it's a crop then I'd rework the original to allow a little more space in front of the butterfly.

This is the clue that makes it a Small PB Frit, The marks on the under hind wing are chevrons whereas on the PB Frit, they are more triangular shaped.
Upperside give clues for same reasons but rather less diagnostic.
