I have just downloaded it, and, at a cursory glance, it seems to promise hours of entertainment.
The illustrations are superb, and, printed well, would make excellent wall decorations.

What a fantastic book!!

It didn't help me answer Trev's question (though it reminded me that the clouded yellow was once edusa, the name we now use for Bath white - was the Bath white ever croceus?) but it's a great read and the pictures are wonderful.

Notice all those 'secondary species', like scarce copper and purple-edged copper appearing!

It is indeed a wonderful book and the hand coloured plates are beautiful - especially if you're lucky enough to acquire the large-paper copy. Look out for the two volume work British Moths and Their Transformations, it is equally beautiful.
