I have a mating pair of common blue. These were selflessly pointed out to me by Denise whose camera battery had died, so she had to wait in frustration as I snapped them. Thanks Denise. You'll get other opportunities I'm sure.
Snapped with Sony A700, hand held, 70-210mm "beercan" zoom, Canon 500D close up lens. 1/1000 F11, iso400, natural light, spot metering. Raw image processed with Photoshop CS3

Ok now things are really starting to hot up with new species popping up all over the place. First decent evening in ages and I couldn't resist making the 2 hour round trip last night to photograph these amazing Small Pearl Border Fritillaries from Mid-Sussex that I saw for the first time ever over the bank holiday weekend :)

Here we go again. Heath Frit that stopped briefly after 3 hours of whizzing around me without pausing for a breath!

This will no doubt change over the course of the month ... but a pair of mating Silver-studded Blues taken at Silchester Common today.

Cheers,

Common blue on plantain in Dorset. Pretty sharp which I like. Interesting to see what the rest of the month brings!
