Today a visit to Gait barrows and Lord's lot bog (both in Lancashire) was well worth the drive.
Gait barrows: 1 Duke of Burgundy (very Hard to find - but well worth the effort, as it couldn't have showed any better in the midday sun!), 1 Dingy skipper, showing very well (i knew they existed at Warton crag, but i didn't know about any here), 15+ (probably more) Pearl bordered fritillary, 5+ Brimstone, 5+ Large white, 10+ Small white, 5+ Green veined white, 10+ Orange tip (all Males), Female Holly blue, Red admiral, Small tortoiseshell, 5+ Peacock, c5 Speckled wood,
Also at Gait barrows: c5 Common lizard, 2 Red deer, Wood ants (huge swarms on the ground), Loads of Bee flies and lots of Common blue damselflies.
Lord's lot bog: c25 Green hairstreak - showing brilliantly, 10+ Large white, 10+ Small / Green veined white, 5+ Orange tip (1 Female).
Also at Lord's lot bog: c3 Four-spotted chasers, 3 Large Red damselfly, Brown hare.
The pictures (sorry there is a lot - 10) come in reverse order, so the Lord's lot Bog pictures come first, then the Gait barrow's pictures come after them.
