Hummingbird hawkmoth.

Post by champ »

Sorry, not a butterfly but a pleasure to watch.First one ive seen this year. This must be an early sighting :?: .I dont usually see them till june. This one was attracted to Geum mrs Bradshaw flowering in pots on the nursery. It then zoomed off to briefly look at ivy leafed toad flax flowers before dissapearing over the high wall they are growing on at the usual rate of knots.

Just a reminder that on the BC web site http://www.butterfly-conservation.org there is a place to record HBHM ( & Painted Lady )sightings as part of a migrant watch iniative with Radio4 "World on the move". Its dead quick & easy to do. I just looked at it 28 - HBHM sightings reported so far.

I am envious of this sighting too. HBHM is almost my favorite butterfly!
