Interesting!

There was a photo of a Marsh Fritillary on BRERC's website until recently captioned as being taken on Bath Golf Course in May 2005; presumably a release.

All sightings of Marsh Frit are, of course, most welcome! However ...

There were several sightings last year, and some this year, that are definitely the result of unofficial releases.

Although I'm sure such releases are with the best of intentions, this does undermine the work of various conservation bodies, with population dynamics being skewed.

Cheers,

- Pete

They are showing well at Little Scrubbs Meadow in Lincolnshire as of last week - possibly Tuesday. Also Dingy Skippers there. As with most other butterfly species in the woods there, unofficial releases I believe.
