The Hertfordshire & Middlesex Branch of Butterfly Conservation Spring Meeting will be held on Saturday 15 March. There are three presentations, one from me on the Butterflies of Southern France (with 80 images, a good number of which are of butterflies that are rarities in the UK), one by Andrew Middleton on UK Hairstreaks, and one by Andrew Wood on the Moths of Hertfordshire.

All are welcome, BC members and non-members alike, and entry is free.

Details of the programme, venue and timings are here:

Sorry to let you down folks, family problems made it impossible for me to attend this event. :(

I could only stay long enough to see Roger's photos, but I was happy I went as they so good. He's fueled my enthusiasm for getting down to the south of France this summer no end!

Roger...lovely to meet you and your good lady :D

Martin.

Hi Martin,

It was nice to meet you, too, and (like Saturday before last at Pete's excellent workshop) put faces to names. Sorry you couldn't make it, Mike.

The next presentation on UK hairstreaks by Andrew Middleton was very good, with some terrific video footage of each species.

Some friends of ours have just bought a holiday home in southern Spain and are looking to advertise it for letting next year. I suggested that a few photos of local butterflies on their website would increase its appeal and - guess what - they asked me if I could come down for a few days next spring and take some photos. I'm trying not to feel guilty.

Roger
