Hi all - just received these pics of the same larva from Eddie Barber. Any ideas on what they are? Thanks!
Cheers,

I pretty sure it's not a Brimstone larva - they're very "smooth" and have zero bumps And they feed on Buckthorn
Possibly Angle Shades. See http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=814

Angle Shades
Would agree with Angle Shades Pete as they are the first sign of butterfly or moth I see in my garden every year.
Usually they munch into the early growning buds of Clematis but I can find then on Mint,Buddlia as well, they are definitely not fussy eaters.
Heres a couple of shots of mine.
The second shot is not a clothes eater I just moved it there.
They do also change colour as you can see in the UK Moths photo.
Cheers

Re: Larvae for ID
Anyone know what this larva is?
Found on elm leaves today - some had made a tent of the leaves and were inside.
Some sort of geometrid moth?
